Winter is on its way, bringing powerful winds with it! Would you like to turn nature's wild energy into something amazing?

Join us to discover how destructive energy can become constructive power!

The Science of Wind

Wind is actually solar energy in motion! Imagine Earth as a giant pot of soup heated by the sun. Hot areas bubble up with rising air currents (high pressure), while cold areas cause air to sink (low pressure). The movement of this air from high to low pressure is what we call wind.

Next time you're cooking a pot of soup or boiling water, watch how the bubbles move. Or when you're at the beach, focus on the breeze on your face. The ordinary things in life can be a great way of seeing science in action!

Wind is widely used around the world to generate electricity. It’s one of the cleanest and most sustainable energy sources we have.

In this workshop, you'll build a mini electricity generator and use your own breath to spin the blades to light up a bulb. This is a fascinating way to discover how the invisible movement of air can be harnessed to create something both visible and powerful: light!
